Acer AS5755-6647 Price & Review : I’m in college right now and I was looking for a cheaper laptop that wasn’t a piece of crap. I researched tons of laptops and this was by far the best deal with the best specs. I also bought the SquareTrade warranty just in case, but I ordered it on a Wednesday at like 10:00pm and it was here by Friday early afternooon, so that’s like a day and a half (with Prime of course) so that was cool. Out of the package everything worked perfect, there were no flaws or defects. It boots up fast (20ish seconds, they have stupid quick ones nowadays but most of those have solid state drives and are much more expensive) and it set up really quick.

Battery life has been great, it has power save options too that bump it up higher than what it is advertised at (which i think was 4.5 hrs). I used it at class all day and typed a paper and did a bunch of other stuff and I still had like 2 hours (according to the laptop) of battery power left. The battery charges quickly too.

DVD burner works well, Acer’s software prompts you to make backup DVD’s if you can so that you can return it to factory defaults if you or someone else jacks up your computer really bad, you’ll need 4 DVD’s to do it, its about 14.5 GB of data that needs to be burned. The wireless internet is fast, and the computer is amazing at multitasking (thank you for the Intel i5 core and the 6GB of RAM). It hasn’t gotten stuck yet. When I was writing that paper earlier I had like 8 Microsoft office windows open, plus 2 explorer windows, google chrome playing some Pandora and like 5 Adobe Reader windows open. We have a dell desktop that is pretty solid and only like 2 years-ish old and it runs really well but nothing like this thing. I’m pretty sure it would have struggled with all of the windows open. Obviously that’s not a solid test of its multi-tasking abilities but you get the point.

The touch pad is pretty cool, it is multi-functional and allows you to pinch to zoom out or do the opposite to zoom in, it also lets you rotate whatever you are looking at by putting two fingers on it and spinning them in the direction you want, like when you are uploading pictures and need to orient them the right way. You can also use 2 fingers to slide to the next photos.

Also if you have a smart TV, it is WiDi capable. You can also get little router-type thingies that you can hook up to your TV to make it like a smart TV. If you don’t know what WiDi is, that means you can wirelessly extend your laptop’s display to your TV, so everything you do on your laptop shows up there. This is great for watching Netflix or Hulu or stupid youtube videos in the middle of the night. The laptops Display is crystal clear, literally and the Dolby Advanced Audio speakers are just that-advanced, they sound really really really good. Webcam works great too, I’ve Skyped a few times with it and it works really well and so does the mic.

Basically, what I’m really trying to say is that I’m in love and I don’t care who knows it. So do yourself a favor and buy this.
